Natties!!!

Most of you know already, but just in case (and also for ego stroking purposes) Weasel and I will be competing with Machine at Nationals in Sarasota on the last weekend of October.

Regionals was this past weekend, and Machine took 3rd. We were expecting first, but a semis loss to BAT (a big part my fault, I was heavily off my game) and an early loss to Madcow sunday when they were playing the best game of their lives put us in a do-or-die situation and having to win 3 straight. General Strike, Madcow again, and Madison.

Weasel and I didn't play much in the general strike game, it was a heavy upwind-downwind game, and we poured it on from the first point, they never really had a shot. Madcow was closer, wind died a bit, and with everyone else showing a little fatigue, Weasel and I stepped in a little more here, played pretty solidly. Final was 15-10 if I recall.

Then there was Madison. Boy howdy, that was fun. The first point set the tone, physical dominance. Weasel and I played very well here, even getting to share the field a couple times. Layouts, skies...the works. In fact, in one point, I had a sky D (foul was overturned by the observer) Weasel and I torched everyone on the field before a teammate turned it over, only to have Weasel get a disgusting layout D on an incut, and yours truly skied 3 people on a huck. By the way, Weasel, I believe someone has a picture of both your D, and my sky...I'll let you know when I get my hands on em.

The end result is Natties. Weasel and I will be in peak condition, and we'll make Wheaton proud with our performance. Please keep us in your thoughts, fire us emails and whatnot to keep us pumped, and we'll sign DVDs for you when Weasel and I are on the covers. (I'm assuming here that the producers will have such a hard time deciding which of us to put on the cover, that they release two limited edition covers.

Oh, and when you go to the last fall tourney, be ready for a fireworks show from your future National Champions.

This weekend

Hey guys, sorry I couldn't be there with y'all for today's games, congrats on the win over Michigan State!

I wasn't there today, so I can't comment on the guys who were only there today, but I can make observations about yesterday:
-We played really well.
Considering that for many of you, this is your first college tourney (and first competitive experience) you handled it well. Mistakes will happen, as Weasel can attest, even at Machine's practices today there were drops and throw-aways...it happens. The part that fills my chest with pride is the manner the mistakes were handled, basically whoever screwed up kept their head up and worked to "get their hat back" so to speak. There was no quitting...down significantly to White water, we were still playing well, and not just handing it to them...we still forced them to work for every score, and work to keep us from scoring, that is impressive.
-You handled yourselves well.
Whether it was the constant talk on sidelines of drinking, and the party, the UWW girls trying to "stretch" wheaton boys and make out with them, or just the nature of competitive players swearing and being jerks...wheaton maintained it's classiness and composure. Granted I was not helping the case any, but y'all more than made up for me.
-You brought intensity.
Whether it was the copious amounts of layouts throughout the day, or the hard running, even at the end of game 4, you came to play, and you did. Tournaments are a brutal endeavor, and the only real way to prepare for them is to...play tournaments...unless you guys want to do 8 hour practices on both days of a weekend. Basically, it is one of the most physically demanding sports competition and you learned why. Just wait until the end of spring season, what amazing shape you'll be in, and how much fun you'll have torching people towards the end of the day when all of your opponents have the additional burden of years of heavy drinking also trashing their system.
-You enjoyed yourselves.
Or so I hope, it seemed to me like y'all had fun. I can only imagine what you were like when you played michigan state today...love the game guys, love the game.
